Why I'm "WoW" about Winter:
I'm a relatively new "Lunartic" (a Lunar Chronicles fan) since I came upon the series in early 2014, but I love these fairy tale adaptations!  I like to call them Fairy Tales + Sci-Fi = A Series You Don't Want to Miss!  I actually still haven't read the "prequel" Fairest yet, which was released earlier this year, but I should be able to get to it while I wait for the library to process Winter.  One of the things I'm so excited about is the page count:  832 pages!  Excuse me while I let that sink in a moment ... Book #3, Cress, was 550 pages and it was a pretty substantial hardcover.  I can't imaging what Winter might look like!  Even though I don't want to say good-bye to Cinder and co. (after all, it seems like I've only just gotten to know them), at least I'll have a lot of time with them before the book is over.

As promised, my design for Marissa Meyer's The Lunar Chronicles sticker design contest.  I wasn't selected as a finalist, but I had fun coming up with my "word art" inspired design.  I haven't worked digitally in awhile and I forgot a lot of stuff (plus I was working in Photoshop a bit more than I have before).  It made me want to make some blends/collages for my computer desktop wallpaper (maybe How to Train Your Dragon 2 themed).  Voting is closed, but you can look at the finalist entries on Marissa Meyer's blog.

I chose words I thought were unique to the TLC world[s], and that described the series and main characters such as Cinder, Kai, Cress, Scarlet, Winter, etc. I originally wanted to use a symbol for each titular female, but ultimately I decided to only choose the slipper to represent Cinder, since it is an iconic part of her cover and she is the main protagonist of the entire series.  Analyzing it now, I think my design is a bit too busy for a 1" - 3" sticker, I don't know if the words would be able to be read that small, but I might expand it into a wallpaper later.

So excited for this weekend!

In the mail today, I got Prelude for a Lord by Camille Elliot!  Camy Tang's first historical (written under a pseudonym) is a Regency, one of my favorite time periods, so I can't wait to get started on it.  But first, I'm working on finishing my entry to Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles Sticker Design contest which is due tomorrow.  I've never designed a sticker before, but I thought I'd give it a shot even though there's less than a day to enter.  I'll post my finished design later in the week.  Meanwhile, you can check out the entries so far on Marissa Meyer's pintrest page.

I had an amazing week as one of the admin staff at my last summer camp of the year, but now I'm back and ready to blog!

     I first came across Marissa Meyer’s books when researching sci-fi Little Red Riding Hood adaptations (it's a long story).  One of the only stories that came up in my online searches was book two, Scarlet.  When my professor said the novel was too long for the purposes of our English Literature class assignment, I put it aside and promised myself I would read it this summer.  When I finally borrowed the first two books in the series, I quickly devoured them, staying up late into the night to finish them.
